We’re gonna be the greatest love story this world has ever seen…

On the windiest day of the year [literally!], we traveled up to Brussels, Illinois for Hank and Ashleigh’s engagement session. If you aren’t familiar with Brussels, let me paint a picture for you. Imagine leaving St Louis, driving for a while through God’s country, windows down, singing all your favorite country songs (from the 90s, of course), crossing the river by ferry, and entering beautiful, rolling hills along rivers and bluffs. You’ll find life suddenly slowed down as you take a deep breath. Everyone’s friendly again, as evidenced by the single-finger wave as you pass by. Peaceful, right? Totally was.

On this day, what mattered most was Hank and Ashleigh and the celebration of their engagement. These two love birds call this home, and we can see why they love it so much! As if it wasn’t already the perfect place to take pictures, Hank also proposed to Ashleigh on this land atop a hill overlooking a quaint, little pond. With Hank at the wheel of his four-seater side-by-side (hopefully that’s the correct term!), we toured the hills and valleys of his family’s land. It was a beautiful and peaceful experience, and we could have strolled for hours laughing with Hank and Ashleigh.

Trust us when we say the wind was awful…. but they were troopers. And we used the wind to our advantage so Ashleigh could rock that Beyoncé look!! As the sun was setting, we capped their session off at his parents’ property with Hank and Ashleigh popping champagne. It was a blast.

These two share a special kind of love and compliment each other well. Hank could use a little more practice with his jokes before taking them to the main stage (LOL), but he makes Ashleigh laugh and that’s really all that matters!! 😉 Kudos, Hank!

Hank and Ashleigh, thank you for inviting us over to your world and giving us a lay of the land! We enjoyed our time with you and look forward to capturing your wedding day later this year!
